Imagine Goa, Fifty Years Hence.

Set in a futuristic Goa under corporate rule,

Goa < 2075 delves into a polarised society of powerful Overlords and marginalised Subterraneans.

The story follows five friends seeking vigilante justice for the murder of another friend, who refused to sell the last, surviving traditional house in Anjuna, amidst rampant corruption and environmental degradation.

(Available in English & Marathi)

What is a Live Novel?

‘GOA < 2075’ is the first attempt in India at writing a live and bilingual novel and in the process, creating a new writing and publishing genre. The novel went live on October 1, 2023 and is set to finish early 2025.

The reason why 'GOA < 2075' is referred to as a live novel, is because it has not been written in its entirety.

Freshly written 500-550-word parcels are published twice a week in English and Marathi, on social media platforms. The English edition of the live novel is available on Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter) and LinkedIn and the Marathi edition is published on Instagram and Facebook.

Meet The Author

It took me 26 years as a journalist to realise that the domain is divided into left and right ideological silos, with little to no room to manoeuvre for those who are critical of both thoughts. So f... that.

In other news, I have co-authored the biography of former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. I was born in Mumbai, and until some years ago, I was glad to have grown up in Goa. That’s about the gist of it.

What Readers Have To Say

Goa < 2075 is a rare work. Through live writing, Mayabhushan dives into what Goa could be in the year 2075, exploring questions involving land, identity and environment. Threats to Goa’s forests, its tigers and social inequity too, are imagined in ways that feel both deeply familiar and completely new.
